Reiki Sessions and Reiki Training

What is Reiki?

Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning "universal life energy." Reiki is a system of natural healing founded by Mikao Usui in the late 1800s.

Karen Gordon, Independent Reiki Master, invites you to experience the benefits of this gentle, ancient healing art.

Treatments

Reiki, a technique of healing using non-manipulative touch, is a nurturing "dance" between the practitioner and the receiver. The receiver wears loose, comfortable clothing during the Reiki session which lasts from 60-90 minutes.

Some of the benefits experienced are:

Reiki Training

First Degree:

In First Degree Reiki training, the student is brought into the Usui System of Natural Healing through four initiations (sometimes called attunements), which awaken her to the subtle vibration of Reiki.

In four 3-hour sessions, usually held over the course of two to four consecutive days, the student learns the form for self-treatment and treating others and is told the Reiki story and history.  First Degree Reiki training includes a discussion of the Spiritual Precepts of Reiki, and time is allotted for hands-on practice of the form.

Second Degree:

Before entering into Second Degree Reiki training, it is recommended that the student spend a period of time working with the Reiki through self-treatment, treating others and exploring how the Spiritual Precepts can be applied to her life. It is also important to note that First Degree Reiki is complete onto itself.

For those students who choose to go deeper into their own personal Reiki journeys, Second Degree Reiki training is available. This commitment may take the form of a class or it may be a one-on-one relationship between the student and the Master, and it is usually held in two sessions over the course of two consecutive days.

Three sacred symbols, which have been passed down through the Reiki lineage from Master to student, are taught, and depending upon the Master's Reiki tradition, one or two initiations (attunements) are given. The form for self-treatment and treatment of others is reviewed and there is further exploration of how we can apply the Spiritual Precepts of Reiki to our lives.

The Reiki Room  Karen remains committed to the teaching of Reiki as an oral tradition that is passed from teacher to student. In that tradition, students always receive the initiations (attunements) in the physical presence of their Reiki Master.
